When both her grandmothers are diagnosed with the early onset of dementia, filmmaker A. Megan Turnbull feels a strong compulsion to return to Winnipeg and make a film about them. From this inspiration she began to rifle through the dusty shoeboxes of old family photos, screening the forgotten regular 8mm family films and videotapes, then she interviews her grandmothers to determine what has been passed down. Of them is tender portrait of two elderly Canadian women. It is an exploration of the memories, laughter and lineage of a filmmaker and her (great)grandmothers at all levels of ‘great’.
