This tape is based on a short visit to the American Pleasure Place, Las Vegas. It was to be part architectural survey and part ethnography. It was to be made up of a series of “romantic” images taken with a shaky home movie camera, the family’s Super 8. But this turned out to be no dream vacation. The record shows a labour dispute which forced bartenders and casino dealers to boycott in the streets as their employers engaged in union busting and generally unfair labour practices.
