Excerpt from the Artist Statement for "Generation" from 1988:
"I am fascinated by the ways in which art making is able to simulate a reality that can be manipulated to explore underlying cultural assumptions. I have been particularly interested in investigating how cultural codes are mediated through electronic technology and manifest themselves in our attitudes and behaviour. Have we become a culture whose information and ideas are given forms solely by electronic images? Have we created a new form of representation that irreversibly impacts upon our definitions of reality and identity? In Generation, a barrage of images and sounds repeat and overlap, mirroring the insidious bombardment taking place in our use of current visual and electronic technologies." (Reva Stone)
