Synopsis

Renovation follows an individual’s attempt to purchase and renovate a derelict house in downtown Winnipeg. Through a combination of still photographs and video footage, the tape casually explores the interior of the house and the community in which the house is located. These images are accompanied by a voice over by the owner who speculates on the history of the house and the living conditions of the former tenants. The house seen as a gutted shell in transition, inverts the usual association of the house as a symbol of stability and security.
