Created from the merger of Spirafilm and Vidéo Femmes, Spira is an independent cinema cooperative that stimulates creation, supports production and distributes works to ensure their visibility both at home and abroad.
Through its distribution service, Spira markets independent works, mainly fiction and documentaries. Its catalogue consists predominantly of shorts but also includes a number of feature documentaries, with precedence given to works by filmmakers from the Quebec City region. Spira promotes its artists and their works through local, national and international distribution and dissemination activities, deploying communication strategies and formulating market and audience development initiatives based on the type of work. Spira also distributes works from the rich Vidéo Femmes collection of more than 300 works.
