Synopsis

In August of 2013, Vancouver artist Randy Lee Cutler hosted a series of performative walks through Chinatown exploring the enduring relationship that civilizations have had with salt. Each walk began with a salt tasting and discussion of its formative role in social history from China and India to Timbuktu. Meandering through the neighborhood, Cutler invited local shopkeepers and guests to speak about different aspects of sodium chloride whether as a flavour, a remedy or a molecular formation.
