The documentary La Génération 101 offers a panoramic look into a generation that has begun and will continue to amaze us. Beyond the debates over language and identity it raises,  La Génération 101 is a tale of friendship and sharing. It explores the atypical journey of four young immigrants, who participate in their new society, all according to their own convictions. They denounce racism, and the problem of unemployment that plagues certain communities, and wonder about the integration of those hundreds of young immigrants who now fully master French but who, unlike them, have failed to develop meaningful bonds with their host society. This raises the question of Quebec’s cultural destiny in an increasingly mixed society. At the end of La Génération 101, we witness the birth of a new Quebec society, still French-speaking, yet multilingual and open to the world.
