In the far reaches of the Quebec countryside, between a road and a headland that plunges into the sea, an abandoned motel has been converted into a retirement home. The film is an elegiac exploration of life and ageing set in a place where time seems to have ground to a halt.
The film makes use of the inherent strengths of the medium at its simplest. The scenes are presented as a series of independent but interlocking tableaux, and are unadorned by interviews, narration or music.
