Nobody wants to tell Skye, a nine-year-old girl, what is happening in her family. She sees doctors come and go, and she knows something has to be going on. Her mother, bedridden and nearing death, cannot bring herself to offer Skye the support she needs. Her grandmother is unable to acknowledge the little girl's suffering. The child, feeling isolated and confused, clings to the memories of being driven around to sleep as she tries to make sense of what even adults find confounding.
