Bio
Michael V. Smith is a writer, filmmaker, performance artist and occasional clown. He teaches creative writing in the interdisciplinary program of the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at UBC's Okanagan campus in BC's Interior. His videos have played in queer and mainstream venues around the world, such as the Lincoln Center, the British Film Institute, the Vancouver International Film Festival, and MIX: New York Lesbian & Gay Experimental Film/Video Festival. Often working with narrative and nonfiction texts, Smith complicates cultural certainties by juxtaposing iconographic imagery with recorded voice.
