Seamus Rea is a product of "the Troubles," as he was born and brought up in the Bogside in Derry, Northern Ireland.  In order to get as far as possible from street-rioting and explosions, Seamus became a theatre director - specialising in opera - and has directed more than 25 productions.

His first film, a short called "Ginger Beer,"  won the audience vote in the BBC Short Film Festival as well as awards at international film festivals in Palm Springs and Germany.  The film was bought by Virgin Airlines and was shown as part of their in-flight entertainment program on all their routes, as well as being shown at more than 30 film festivals worldwide.
