Nancy Nicol is a long time activist documentary maker whose work focuses on human rights and social justice. She is a Professor of Visual Arts at York University, where she has taught since 1989. Nicol is currently producing a body of work that examines the history of lesbian and gay rights organizing in Canada. Individual titles in that body of work include: The End of Second Class (2006) on the battle for same sex marriage in Canada; Politics of the Heart /La politique du coeur (2005) on homoparental rights; and Stand Together (2002) on the early gay liberation movement in Canada following the decriminalization of homosexuality in 1969.
