Bio
Jean-Pierre Joubert was born and raised in Johannesburg, sunny South Africa. Since immigrating to Toronto 14 years ago, he has studied Film and Television at York University and holds a BFA. Jean-Pierre is now a Toronto-based filmmaker and has
worked as a freelancer for companies such as Global, Rogers, Canadian Business Development Corporation, Slice, Food Network, Breakthrough Films, Alliance Atlantis, The Pet Network, BPM TV and others. He has worked on films and Television ranging from Documentary to Animation to Drama to Music Videos & Experimental. He has collaborated on films that have played at various festivals including, the Toronto International Film Festival, the Toronto Urban Film Festival, Toronto Jewish Film Festival, the CFC and others. Joubert has several films in the works as well as several scripts that are currently un-produced. He was a finalist in the Toronto Urban Film Festival 2008, and won an Honorable mention award for a short film script from ‘The Movie Deal Hollywood’. Jean-Pierre has won a Trinity Square Video themed commission to write/direct and produce an original video work that was screened at the Revue cinema. Joubert has recently won a TSV pitch award for the 2009 TUFF which will screen on Toronto Subway screens in the fall.
