Bio
Meghna Haldar is a Vancouver based writer-filmmaker. Her first feature documentary “Dirt” garnered three Leos in 2009 and the Best Documentary Award at the Female Eye Festival. Most recently, it screened as part of the Henry Wellcome Collection exhibit on Dirt. Her dramatic short “Revival” won Best Short at Worldfest Houston, Audience Award and Best Actor award at Cinematexas. Her work has been broadcast on Doc Channel, Knowledge and DCTV (NYC). She has received grants from Canada Council, BC Arts, NFB, Telefilm, Texas Filmmakers Production Fund, City of Austin Cultural Contracts and Texas Commission of the Arts. She has lectured at University of Texas at Austin, worked in a film co-op, and sat on juries. Her essay on Dirt: A Social Mirror presented at the Global Conference for Multiculturalism, Conflict and Belonging at Oxford University is due to be published in a book in 2012. She does educational and community programming for DOXA Film Festival.
