Bio
Ivan Hughes lives and works in Winnipeg, MB, where he is an event organizer, filmmaker and father who enjoys working and playing in the great outdoors. He is the director of the award-winning documentary In the Shadow of the Chief that marked his directorial debut. He studied cinematography at George Brown College (Toronto) and photographic techniques at Toronto Image Works. Ivan also directed and edited, Back to the Wall, the story about a quadriplegic climber and his 14-year journey back to climbing. His film, University Wall was selected as finalist for best short film at the 2007 Banff Mountain Film Festival. He has also produced 3 short films for the Whistler Stories program and 32 segments for Tourism British Columbia. His latest documentary about mountaineer Meagan McGrath will be broadcast on ZDF in Germany and France. When not making films, he is primarily known as a writer, photographer, adventurer, and storyteller.
