Bio
Heather is Haida - she was born in Vancouver, raised in Edmonton and has lived in Skidegate. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. While holding a government job, Heather also pursues filmmaking, having taken courses at her local film co-op. Her first documentary, ‘The Woman Who Returns,’ explores her getting adopted into her clan. It premiered at the EIFF and has screened at numerous festivals. She was also the recipient of the first Gill Cardinal Legacy Fund through which she was mentored by the NFB. Currently, Heather is in pre-production for her first feature film, ‘Della and Goliath,’ after being awarded the Telefilm Microgrant - Aboriginal Stream.
