Mikel Guillen is a Toronto based Contemporary artist and filmmaker. as well as curator, writer, designer, film translator and anarchist poet. He has screened and exhibited his work nationally and internationally. Mikel Guillen was part of the Remodenist film movement with films like "Ascending" and "The Natural State" also for translating the manifesto in French. The Remodernists were supported by Cine Foundation board of directors, filmmakers Béla Tarr and Lav Diaz.
He was part of the Board of Directors at Pix Film Gallery and co-founder and lead Curator of The Kinochrome Sessions. A Look at Contemporary Practice. He is also co-founder of the avant-garde cinéma collective Obscuritads with British Filmmaker and artist Scott Barley and is represented internationally by agent Miquel Escudero Diéguez in Paris, France.
