Paula Durette was born in Hartford, Connecticut in the U.S.A. She received an MFAfrom the University of Maryland in Visual Arts and currently resides and teaches inFresno, CA. She has worked with many mediums including film, video installation, interactive multi-media, traditional and digital animation.
Earlier pieces have shown this range including In the Center of These Things, a b&w, 16mm experimental film, the video installations, Razing and Claiming Gender, and thescathing yet humorous interactive installation We Don’t Want Your Skanky Ass.
Her most recent works seek to blend the experience of experimental and narrativefilmmaking with current digital technologies in animation. Ladies Tea, Nesting Season,Booty Dance, and her most recent piece, Numerology, use a blend of software programs and rely on traditional and experimental modes of storytelling. Set within the realm ofLesbian culture, innovative techniques are used to create humorous renditions ofeveryday lesbian activities.
