Bio

Born in 1942 in Montréal, Chantal duPont has been teaching at UQAM since 1985. She is a multidisciplinary artist who has participated in numerous international video festivals, as well as in individual and collective exhibitions in Québec and abroad. Since 1996, Chantal duPont’s work is mainly based on identity, memory, autobiography and new forms of narratives related to audio-video practices and new media. Her work has been showned in numerous festivals and were awarded prizes such as “Euroregion Prize” at the Festival Vidéo d’Estavar-Llivia (1996), “Vidéoformes Prize” at the 16th Festival international d’art vidéo et multimédia de Clermont-Ferrand, the “Prix à la Création” from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec during Les 19es Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois in Montréal and the “Prize (ex-aequo) for a short fiction work” by the Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma (AQCC) for 2000.
