Bio

Gaëlle Cognée (France, 1988) graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts Paris-Cergy in 2013. During her studies she initiated the artists group Plafond which has been exhibiting in a site-specific approach. In 2015 she was part of collaborative residency projects in Tirana (Albania) and in Tangier (Morocco) in 2016. This last one was concluded with an exhibition (probably still on-going) on the cart of a snail street seller. In March 2017 she had a solo show focusing on her videos at the artist run space Pauline Perplexe in Arcueil (France).

In the impassive labyrinth of a historical museum, a place that seems to have lost its chronology, paranoia is growing out of an unsurpassable contradiction: a moving present has to keep frozen a past that would rather escape. A turtle, like a prehistorical silence, almost takes on the role of a museum object, dismantling both the historical and filmic narrative.
