Bio

Nancy Barić lives in Montréal. She graduated with a degree in Cinema from Concordia University in 1999, and also has a degree in Art History and Studio Arts. She has made several short fiction and experimental films in super 8 mm, 16mm, 35mm and video. She has directed documentaries abroad and directed music videos.

All Things in Motionless Triumph, (16mm, 7min., 1998, distributor Cinéma Libre) was selected for more than 15 festivals worldwide as well as at Festival international du nouveau cinéma de Montréal and the Split International World Film Festival.

Les Guides, (super 8 and video, 3min., 2004, co-directed with Nicolas Renaud) was selected for the Festival international du nouveau cinéma de Montréal, Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois and the Montreal Underground Film Festival.

In 2005 she wrote, produced and directed the short fiction film Miloš et Kiš, (35mm, 15 min. distributor Netima) Sodec-jeunes créateurs.

She has also directed with Nicolas Renaud an experimental project (Moving Window, Super 8mm, commissioned by Main Film) presented as a film loop at the Cinémathèque québécoise in 2007, and various screenings at art galleries throughout Québec.

Recently she collaborated with Nicolas Renaud to create 3 Experiments on Super 8mm (2008), which screened at the Cambridge Super Film Festival, Bolzano Experimental Film Festival, Bologna Future Film Festival, Ex-Centris Theatre in Montréal, Szeged Super 8 Film Festival and will screen at the Flicker NYC Festival in New York City. It has also screened in both St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Knife (16mm, 3min, black and white, 2009) was selected for the Festival du nouveau cinema and Les Rendez-Vous du Cinéma Québecois both in Montréal. It has also screened in St. Petersburg and Moscow. And recently was selected to screen at the Experiments in Cinema at Albuquerque, New Mexico.
