Bio

Born and raised in the prairies of central Alberta, Jonathan Balazs has grown into a multi-disciplinary artist and passionate writer, producer, cinematographer and editor. In his mid-twenties, he is a burgeoning voice in contemporary Canadian cinema and has spent the better part of a decade developing his craft through commissioned work, writing and producing dramatic short films as well as documentaries. Balazs’ work often addresses issues of mental health and the more sinister aspects of human psyche including: euthanasia, suicide, schizophrenia and the dissolution of human relationships. In 2010 he graduated from Ryerson University’s film studies program in Toronto.
