    Bio

Over the last twenty years, Barrow has used obsolete technologies to present pictorial narratives by merging the methods and cultural histories of cinema, comic books, animation, shadow puppetry and magic lantern shows. Barrow is best known for creating and adapting comic book narratives to "manual" forms of animation by projecting, layering and manipulating drawings on an overhead projector in live performance contexts.

    Black Heart's Desire

    • 1995
    • Daniel Barrow

The boy and the puppy are innocent one moment, and experienced the next (sexually). The line between outward innocence and inner corruption begins to dissolve, revealing a beautiful rot and decay. This video is essentially a running parallel with the proverbial Garden of Eden.

    Backwash

    • 1995
    • Daniel Barrow

"Backwash" examines a very specific almost metaphysical ritual of sexual wanting and envy. This is the third in a 3-part series of black and white performance videos.
