Alone on the road, they pursue highly eclectic musical paths. From purely traditional bluegrass to the most experimental rock, a brass band and electronic music, what these musicians have in common is appearing alone on stage. How did they end up writing, playing and touring solo? Creative necessity, freedom, independence, as well as economic reality often prompt savvy musicians to embark on a solo career. The filmmakers spoke with 15 oneman or onewoman bands who came together in Montreal in May 2013. On stage or in private, these musicians reveal more about themselves.
