The VUCAVU team, in consultation with our content partners, have made the decision to slowly wind down the view-on-demand (VOD) services on our platform to make way for a new direction in our operations. 

We will focus our efforts on curated programming and our new VUCAVU.education institutional subscription services which both have the potential to generate more royalties for artists who share their work in our partners’ catalogues. Discovery of these titles through online screenings, libraries and classrooms will also help highlight the great educational and cultural value inherent to these unique collections of Canadian independent film and video.


WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR VUCAVU?

  • Existing VUCAVU Rental Users can continue to rent titles as long as the credit card information they have in our system is active (until further notice). 

  • VUCAVU’s shared catalogue of 6480+ titles pages and associated trailer videos and artist profiles will remain searchable online to the public. 

  • Professional User Accounts can still be issued to curators and academics wishing to watch works for programming or research purposes. 

  • ​​Free curated programs will still be available from time-to-time on VUCAVU. 

  • Private Page options will still be accessible to groups who want to present online screenings to select audiences through the platform.

  • Quite a few of VUCAVU’s content partners have publicly accessible VOD sites where you can rent the same titles they have on our platform. We invite you to rent titles directly from them.

We thank everyone who has supported this collective effort to improve online access to Canadian media-based art and provide greater national and international awareness of our filmmakers, video artists and culture since we launched this digital platform in 2017 and we're excited for this next chapter in VUCAVU’s evolution.

VOD changes will occur on VUCAVU over the coming months. As we make changes to the platform with our developers, we will periodically update this page and share news in our regular communications.
