VUCAVU welcomes Cecilia Araneda!

VUCAVU is very pleased to announce that Cecilia Araneda will be joining us as our new Executive Director.

Cecilia is the former Executive Director of the Winnipeg Film Group. During her ten years there she brought in a new era of diversity, expanded revenue, fully modernized the organization's technical holdings and initiated the recently launched myCinematheque.ca digital platform. Cecilia was a co-founder of the WNDX Festival of Moving Image, and was responsible for taking that festival from a germ of an idea to its current state as a fully operating non-profit organization with a permanent revenue base and international profile. She is currently the Vice President of the Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA).

In addition, Cecilia is a respected independent filmmaker with a body of work that has won awards and screened internationally. She is a three-time alumna of the fabled Film Farm. Cecilia's family came to Canada when she was very young, as refugees escaping Chile’s coup d’état. She grew up in northern Manitoba and currently lives in Winnipeg.  She holds a BFA (Hons.) in Theatre from York University and an MFA Creative Writing from UBC.

Please join us in welcoming Cecilia to VUCAVU. We look forward to exciting things from this exceptional woman with her extensive experience in guiding media arts organizations to greater things.

You can reach Cecilia in her new post at cecilia@vucavu.com
