Michael Tyas is co-producer of the feature film, One River Many Relations. The film captures the voices of Indigenous Peoples who live downstream from the Alberta oil sands, in the Athabasca delta. Michael studied video production in South Africa in 2003. It’s his goal as a videographer to take care to accurately represent the heart and soul of a story. Michael has Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Honour’s Co-op Option. Combining videography with his background in environmental studies creates a unique mix. One River Many Relations is his first feature length film. He’s worked on previous projects with First Nations (Alberta) Technical Services Advisory Group, Food Matters Manitoba, and Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and Mikisew Cree First Nation. He grew up in Southern Ontario and moved to Winnipeg in 2007.
