Bio

Sara Diamond, (born 1954) is the current president of OCAD University, located in Toronto. Diamond was born in New York City, USA, and emigrated to Toronto in 1959. Diamond has an undergraduate Honours BA in Communications and History from Simon Fraser University, a Masters degree in Digital Media Theory from the University of the Arts, London and a PhD in Computing, Information Technology and Engineering, from the University of East London, England, with a focus on data visualization. Her work as an artist has shown in exhibitions including at the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Vancouver Art Gallery. Prior to joining OCADU, Diamond was the founder of the Banff New Media Institute and the Director of Research for the Banff Centre. Diamond taught at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, at Capilano University, at the California Institute of the Arts and remains an Adjunct Professor at UCLA.
