Bio

Teresa Braun is an interdisciplinary artist working in sculpture, video, installation, and painting. In 2011 she graduated from the University of Manitoba with her Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree and a University Gold Medal. Her work has been shown locally in several solo and group exhibitions. She recently participated in a residency at the Vermont Studio Center and is currently pursuing her MFA through Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. The Winnipeg Arts Council, Manitoba Arts Council, and Video Pool Media Arts Centre have supported her work.

Small cemeteries such as Eigengrund often serve as the only memorial to extinct farming communities and have provided me with a direct link to my ancestors. Despite the physical nature of this link, the past is largely unknowable. In response, I aim to combine personal mythologies with historical traces of the site in an attempt to contribute to the legacy of the land.
