What is it?

VUCAVU.education: Canada’s Independent Film and Video Resource for Education


VUCAVU.education is a streaming platform that gives educators and students access to a curated selection of independent Canadian film and video art spanning more than 60 years. The shared catalogue includes documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation titles from artists across Canada, offering many unique views into the country’s cultural landscape.

ANNUAL INSTITUTIONAL SUBSCRIPTIONS (LAUNCHING IN JANUARY 2026!)

  • VUCAVU.education is an institutional subscription service that allows for postsecondary educational access to a selection of film and video works from VUCAVU's shared catalogue via web proxy technology.
  • If you are a librarian or are an educator interested in a trial of VUCAVU.education, you can CONTACT US here.

Note: We don't currently offer institutional subscriptions to  elementary or secondary institutions but we do offer one-off licencing and Private Page options (see below).

  • Educators and librarians can request a free, time-limited VUCAVU Educator Account to preview, select and request access to artworks from VUCAVU's shared catalogue for educational licensing.

ONE-OFF LICENSING 

VUCAVU's Private Pages option was created for those who wish to present one or more films/videos selected from our shared catalogue to a small group/audience. 

  • Private Pages are accessible for a pre-determined amount of time and tailor the page layout to your specific presentation needs.
  • Each group/institution is receives a unique login to access their private page(s) which can be used by many people.
  • A great tool for institution/groups who want to offer teaching or programming that requires remote/online access to one or many pre-selected films/videos.

Curated PROGRAMS AND EDUCATIONAL GUIDES

  • The VUCAVU platform can be used to present curated programs featuring works found on the platform and/or temporarily upload new films/videos that are not in our content partners' shared catalogues for online programming. 
  • Programming administration fees are set on a sliding scale and we are always open to working with all kinds of established and emerging arts organizations, groups and artist collectives.
