Created through the use of virtual bodies found online, “Release Technique” is part of the “Keystroke Choreographies” series. Each of the videos in this series are compositional studies utilizing popular contemporary dance principals and techniques as a framework for virtual choreography. Skinner Release Technique (SRT) is a movement training technique developed by Joan Skinner in the 1960s that utilizes image-guided and tactile exercises designed to ease tension and promote an effortless movement, integrated with an alignment of the “whole” self. The series “” was created in residency at Latitude 53 - Contemporary Visual Culture in Edmonton, Alberta in October 2011.
